Focus on Ousmane Sembène
Ousmane Sembène is considered one of the most important revolutionary artists of his generation. His body of work in literature and film inspired many African filmmakers and defined post-colonial Africa.
ACMI is joining forces with Sydney Film Festival to celebrate the films of the Senegalese maverick. Spanning five decades of the director's career, the program, curated by Keith Shiri, features rarely seen digital restorations of Sembène's most famous works, including Black Girl, Mandabi and Camp de Thiaroye.
