RISING: The Blak Infinite
Federation Square becomes a canvas for art and storytelling during RISING. The Blak Infinite is an outdoor exhibition of large-scale installations, new artwork commissions, and conversations by leading First Nations artists – sharing First Peoples connections to the cosmos, political constellations, and futures.
Centred within The Blak Infinite is Richard Bell’s (Kamilaroi, Kooma, Jiman and Gurang Gurang) installation of Embassy, with daily film screenings and a program of talks with activists, writers, and artists each day of RISING.
Immersive nighttime projections light up the sky with stories of Sky Country and the cosmos, as the big screen features work from First Peoples writer Ellen Van Nerrven, and Wadawurrung Artist Kait James’ collage work. Pop-up artworks across the square offer alternate narratives and ways of viewing our world and interconnected histories.
Presented with Fed Square, and curated by Kimberley Moulton (Yorta Yorta) and Kate ten Buuren (Taungurung).
